In this class, you can expect a blend of in-person and remote learning experiences designed to fit a variety of learning styles and schedules. We meet in-person every Thursday, but if you’re unable to attend in person, you can still join us virtually via Zoom.

The class is structured in a “hyflex” format, meaning that whether you’re joining us on campus, online, or catching up asynchronously, you’ll still have access to the full range of course materials and discussions.

For our field trips, which are an important part of the experiential learning process, remote students will have an alternative project to ensure you still benefit from hands-on learning, even if you can’t physically visit the recreation facilities in our field trips. These trips offer insights into the real-world operations of arenas, pools, and fitness centers, providing an opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in class to actual facilities.

I take attendance seriously, especially for field trips, as active participation will really enhance your learning experience. However, if you’re not able to attend a field trip or need to arrive late, make sure to let me know with as much notice as possible—ideally 24 hours in advance.

You can expect to spend about 8 hours per week on this course, including class time, assignments, and readings. By regularly logging into Brightspace and keeping up with the weekly activities, you’ll stay on track and maximize your success in this course. There are several assignments spread across the semester, and you will also be doing some reflective journaling to track your professional development as you move through the course.

I’m committed to making this course flexible and accessible, while maintaining high standards of learning and engagement. I look forward to supporting you through this learning journey!
